330 _a This yearbook considers what might best be described as the historical aspects of women's studies from a theological - or perhaps religious - point of view. Feminist history involves understanding how theology is shaped by, and in turn shapes the social and political aspects of the institution which have to do with gender and power. This collection of articles explores these themes from the perspective of methodology (what is feminist history and how do we do it?), context (how have the institutions of the church defined central terms such as "church" or "tradition" in such a way as to exclude women?) and the recovery of women's experience. Much has already been done in feminist religious-historical research, but at the same time we are still at the very beginning of a long process of learning to look at our history with new eyes. This volume is intended to offer some thoughts and stimulus on that search and to encourage further discussions about the need for and form of feminist historical work on religion .
