Les études rassemblées dans ce livre ont pour but de faire découvrir les richesses encore peu connues de l'Orthodoxie, héritière des Pères grecs. L'auteur, selon le cardinal Yves Congar, " a sur tout autre spécialiste l'avantage d'entrer dans l'intime des doctrines et de deviner comme sans effort le secret du jardin fermé ". " La lecture de cet ouvrage, écrit le cardinal Jean Daniélou, fut pour moi décisive. Il cristallise quelque chose que je cherchais, une vision de l'homme transfiguré par les énergies divines [...].
